From a ₹200 Start to a Himalayan Studio: The Journey of Premashiart
Share
At Premashiart, every stroke of the brush tells a story. It isn't just about decor — it's about preserving the soul of Kumaon and bringing the warmth of our mountains into your home. But before the gallery-style studio and the team of artisans, Premashiart was just a quiet dream born in a college dorm.
The Beginning: Humble Roots
It all started back in 2022, during my final year of college. With nothing more than a vision and an investment of just ₹200, I began my journey as a self-taught artist. I didn't know then that those first hand-painted pieces would eventually become the foundation of a brand dedicated to Himalayan heritage.
Named after the two people who shaped my identity — combining my mother Prema's name with my nickname, Ashi — Premashiart was built on the values of authenticity and slow art.
The Evolution: Growth & Community
What began as a solo effort in those early days has evolved into something much larger than myself. Today, I am proud to lead a team of talented local artisans who share a passion for our craft. Together, we've moved from packing orders in small corners to opening our very own physical store in the serene hills of Kasar Devi.
This transition from a solo hobby to a professional studio hasn't just been about business — it's been about community. By focusing on local artisans and traditional Kumaoni motifs, we ensure that the craft is not just sold, but respected and preserved.
Why Premashiart?
In a market flooded with mass-produced items, Premashiart stands for the slow-art philosophy. We believe that:
- Heritage Matters: Every motif we paint carries the legacy of the Kumaon region.
- Art Should Have Soul: No two pieces are identical. When you buy from us, you aren't just getting an object — you're getting a hand-painted piece of our culture.
- Quality Over Quantity: We don't chase trends. We focus on original paintings and limited-run collections that bring a modern-retro elegance to your living space.
A Note of Gratitude
This journey — from ₹200 to a thriving studio — would not have been possible without you. Every time you choose a Premashiart product, you are supporting local artisans, preserving traditional art forms, and helping keep the spirit of Devbhoomi alive.
Whether you're visiting our studio in Kasar Devi or shopping from our digital storefront, thank you for being a part of our story.
